The story of my collection is based upon my journey as a refugee child together with my mother and sister from Afghanistan to the Netherlands. The collection is based on the journey itself, life before and after arrival. The collection was created and designed from the only valuable item left over from the journey, namely my children's dress.

It may be dark times, but there is still a resilient glamour in the black quilted satin jacket where the crystals grow on.
My message with this collection is about the power of women, women's rights and freedom. By daring to expose yourself and be transparent in your fragility, to draw strength from that and to see the beauty in it.

The collection is for women, made by women - the most important catalyst.
I see the collection as a new way of powerdressing because in my view, even the magnified silhouettes, colourful embroidered flowers and crystals are meant to be talismans, my version of a woman's armour against what is in store for us. Can clothes give us that? Perhaps, perhaps not. The interpretation you give it is up to the viewer, the feeling you get out of it.
